I’m an American of Swiss and German heritage, living in Switzerland full-time from 2008 until the summer of 2013. I now split my time between Zurich and our new home in Northern California. I’ve called many parts of the U.S. as well as Japan and England home and have traveled widely, fueling my lifelong interest in regional foods and culinary traditions.
I began my career working as an investment banker in New York, but left banking when our children were born. A few years later, I decided to pursue a career closer to my heart. I started by attending a wide range of food-related courses, then completed the French Culinary Institute’s La Technique program. This led to many years catering, developing recipes and teaching cooking and baking classes. Currently, I travel throughout Switzerland pursuing culinary stories for my weekly radio show Food Scout on World Radio Switzerland.
I am very excited to share my discoveries from near and far on Crawfish & Caramel. This name reflects my fascination with tasty delicacies, both savory like the spicy Cajun crawfish of Louisiana and sweet like the sea salt caramels of Brittany.
